The 25th European Championships in trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling were held in Valladolid, Spain, from 31 March to 3 April 2016. Coming a few months before the Rio Olympics, it was a key form guide for the trampoline events at the Games.
Trampoline
Uladzislau Hancharou of Belarus won the men’s individual title and went on to become Olympic champion in Rio that summer. Yana Pavlova of Russia won the women’s event. Belarus won men’s synchro, France won women’s synchro, Russia took the men’s trampoline team title and Great Britain the women’s.
Double mini and tumbling
Mikhail Zalomin of Russia won the men’s double mini event and Lina Sjöberg of Sweden the women’s. In tumbling, the individual titles went to Tagir Murtazaev and Anna Korobeinikova, both of Russia, while Great Britain won both tumbling team events.
A spread of medals
Valladolid produced champions from five nations: Belarus, Russia, France, Sweden and Great Britain. That variety is typical of trampoline gymnastics, where strong individual programmes exist outside the largest federations.
