The 24th European Championships in trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling took place at the Multiusos de Guimarães in Guimarães, Portugal, from 7 to 13 April 2014.
Trampoline
Belarus won both individual trampoline titles: Uladzislau Hancharou for the men and Hanna Harchonak for the women. Russia won both synchro events and the men’s trampoline team title, while Great Britain won the women’s team event.
Double mini and tumbling
Mikhail Zalomin and Polina Troianova, both of Russia, won the individual double mini titles. The host nation Portugal won the women’s double mini team event, a strong home result in a discipline where Portugal has a long tradition. In tumbling, Kristof Willerton and Lucie Colebeck of Great Britain won the individual titles, Great Britain took the women’s team event and Russia the men’s.
Why Guimarães mattered
Portugal is one of the most active trampoline nations in southern Europe, and hosting a continental championship helped its clubs and judges. A home team gold in double mini made the week a success for the host federation.
