The 26th European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships took place at the Multiusos de Odivelas, near Lisbon, Portugal, in October 2013.
Russia’s triple crowns
Russia won three triple crowns, taking the balance, dynamic and combined titles in three categories. They were the men’s pair Alexey Dudchenko and Konstantin Pilipchuk, the women’s group Ekaterina Loginova, Aigul Shaikhutdinova and Ekaterina Stroynova, and the men’s group Dmitry Bryzgalov, Valentin Chetverkin, Maxim Chulkov and Aleksandr Kurasov.
Great Britain’s combined titles
Great Britain won the combined title in two categories: the women’s pair Danielle Jones and Shanie-redd Thorne, and the mixed pair Dominic Smith and Alice Upcott. In those categories the balance and dynamic titles were shared, which made the combined result the decisive one.
How acro titles work
– Balance routines test holds and static strength; each hold has to be shown for a minimum time. – Dynamic routines test flight and catches. – The combined routine mixes both, and its title is usually seen as the most prestigious.
