The 28th European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships were held at Podpromie Hall in Rzeszów, Poland, from 19 to 22 October 2017.
Four triple crowns
Each unit in acrobatic gymnastics can win three titles: balance, dynamic and combined. In Rzeszów four units won all three. They were the Russian women’s pair Daria Guryeva and Daria Kalinina, the Russian mixed pair Marina Chernova and Georgii Pataraia, the Israeli men’s group (Yannay Kalfa, Daniel Uralevitch, Lidar Dana and Efi Sach) and the Russian women’s group (Polina Plastinina, Kseniia Zagoskina and Daria Chebulanka).
The Russian men’s pair Igor Mishev and Nikolay Suprunov won the combined title, but Belgium won the dynamic final, which kept them from a fourth Russian triple crown.
Chernova and Pataraia
For Chernova and Pataraia it was the second European triple crown in a row, after Riesa 2015. Two consecutive clean sweeps made them one of the reference mixed pairs of the decade.
Israel’s men’s group
A triple crown for the Israeli men’s group was one of the strongest results in the history of Israeli acro. Two years later Israel hosted the Europeans in Holon.
